5 tips to avoid cavities

Cavities cause permanent damage to our teeth. For this reason we want to give you 5 tips to avoid cavities and have a healthy and beautiful smile.


Maintain proper oral hygiene


Oral hygiene is key to avoid tooth decay. You must perform a correct brushing of the teeth, at least 3 times a day.


Tip: do not forget to always brush your teeth before sleeping and when you get up, floss and mouthwash. You can use natural products like Bucoplack: cream, rinse and spray (ask us how to get it).


Make regular visits to your dentist


Scheduling frequent visits to the dentist is important to be able to detect any problems with your teeth and gums in time. We recommend you schedule them every 4 to 6 months, As minimum.


Tip: take advantage of your control visit with the dentist to perform professional oral hygiene.


Avoid sugary and acidic foods


Foods high in sugar are preferred for bacteria. With sugars, bacteria produce large amounts of acids, which are the main causes of cavities. For this reason, it is important to reduce the "moments" of consumption of sugars.


The highly acidic foods deteriorate tooth enamel. If you are used to drinking lemon juice or adding vinegar and pickles to your meals, you make your teeth more vulnerable.


Tip: brush your teeth after consuming sweets or acids. It is recommended to do it 30 minutes after meals, not immediately.


Avoid the consumption of tobacco and liquor


Regular consumption of tobacco and liquor is very damaging to general health and teeth. Both of them cause dry mouth and saliva plays a primary role in protecting teeth.


Both liquor and tobacco stain teeth and cause bad odor in the mouth (or halitosis). Alcohol alters the pH of the mouth and has a large amount of sugar and, for its part, tobacco can cause severe gum problems that lead to tooth loss.


Tip: brush your teeth after consuming alcohol and tobacco. You can drink plenty to reduce its harmful effects in the mouth and chew sugar-free gum to produce saliva.


Eat a balanced diet


Maintaining a good diet makes our body feel good. Include in your diet dairy and green vegetables, rich in calcium. You can also consume apple that helps in cleaning your teeth.


Tip: do not eat late, respect meal times, avoid foods and drinks that do not have nutrients and remember to brush your teeth 30 minutes after eating.
